Capital Group, home of American Funds, is one of the world's largest and oldest investment management organizations, founded in 1931 and headquartered in Los Angeles. It manages over $3 trillion in equity and fixed income assets for individual and institutional investors worldwide. For employers, Capital Group offers 401(k), 403(b), and employer-sponsored IRA programs. Its RecordkeeperDirect platform serves smaller businesses with low-cost recordkeeping and American Funds investment options administered through third-party administrators, while PlanPremier serves larger plans with access to hundreds of funds. As of mid-2025, Capital Group reported roughly $122 billion in recordkeeping assets under management across about 58,000 RecordkeeperDirect plans.
