Founded in 2008 in Sydney, Australia by Ashik Ahmed and Steve Shelley, Deputy is a global workforce management platform built for businesses with hourly and shift-based employees. The platform combines employee scheduling, time and attendance tracking, task management, team communication, and labor compliance tools into a single cloud-based and mobile solution. Deputy integrates with payroll and POS systems, serving industries including retail, hospitality, and healthcare across more than 100 countries. Deputy reached unicorn status in 2024 following a funding round backed by investors including OpenView, IVP, and Salesforce Ventures.
