Hartville Pet Insurance is a brand offered by Crum & Forster Pet Insurance Group™, which was formerly named Hartville Pet Insurance Group through its licensed agency. In 2006, our pet insurance products became underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company, a Crum & Forster® company based in Morristown, New Jersey. Crum & Forster Pet Insurance Group™ was acquired by United States Fire Insurance Company in 2013. The switch to the name Crum & Forster Pet Insurance Group™ was made in 2017.
Founded in 1997, Crum & Forster Pet Insurance Group™ is one of the original pet insurance providers. We strive to stay original. In 2006, we became the only partner of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA®) in the pet insurance industry, and in 2017, we became the only pet insurance provider to offer stand-alone health coverage for horses, which is under our ASPCA Pet Health Insurance brand.
