Cognoa

Founded in 2013 and based in Palo Alto/Irvine, California, Cognoa is a pediatric behavioral health company focused on early diagnosis of childhood developmental conditions, starting with autism. Its flagship product, Canvas Dx, is the first FDA-authorized (2021) AI-powered digital diagnostic aid combining a caregiver questionnaire, short home videos, and a clinician questionnaire to help primary care providers diagnose or rule out autism in children ages 18-72 months. Canvas Dx is prescription-only and reimbursed by payers including Highmark and several state Medicaid programs. In 2023, Cognoa partnered with the Health Transformation Alliance, a cooperative of ~60 large self-insured US employers, to add Canvas Dx as an employee benefit; an earlier 2016 'Cognoa for Employers' screening pilot ran with SAP.
