Products
Manage your primary and secondary products so buyers can find, filter, and understand what you offer.
Your products are where the details that power search live. A complete, accurate product is what helps the right brokers, consultants, and employers discover and shortlist you.
You’ll reach Product management either by selecting the Products card from the Admin dashboard or by clicking “Add Product” (+) or “Manage Product” on your Profile. Everything lives in one place, organized into Primary products and Secondary products tabs, each showing a completeness indicator and the last updated date.
Completion is optional, but it helps.
Completing your products isn’t required, but the more complete they are, the easier it is for buyers to find, evaluate, and shortlist you. Share as much as you’re comfortable with. If there’s information you’d prefer not to share, leave that field blank. Please don’t enter “N/A.”
Primary vs. Secondary Products
Primary products are core to your business, the offerings you’re widely known for. Think of this as the key “entry product” an employer or consultant might search to find you. You can add up to three primary products in Shortlister’s productscape, each with a complete product page that appears at the top of your vendor profile.
Tip: If a product is sold standalone, or is a term a buyer would find synonymous with your brand, it’s likely a Primary product.
Secondary products are bundled with your other offerings, not sold on their own, offered via a third party, or something you can offer that isn’t a core competency. They’re lightweight listings with far fewer details, useful for rounding out your catalog.
Adding a Product
- Click “Add product” (or “Add your first product” from your profile) and choose whether you’re adding a Primary or Secondary product, then click Continue.
- Select a product. Search across all categories or browse by group, then choose the one that best describes your product. If you can’t find the right fit, reach out to support@myshortlister.com for help.
- Complete the required details so brokers can find, filter, and understand your product. You’ll be able to expand and refine everything later on the product page:
- Short description — A summary of what the product does and who it’s for (up to 250 characters). It appears in search results and lists.
- Minimum group size — Enter a minimum if your product has one, or leave it blank to show no minimum.
- Delivery model — Choose In-house or Via a partner. If via a partner, list the applicable partner(s).
- Available as a standalone product? — Choose Yes if it can be purchased independently, or No if it’s only available with a larger offering.
Click Complete. You can keep building the product now by clicking “Manage Product.”
Managing a Primary Product
Click “Manage product” to open the full product page, where a completeness indicator tracks your progress. Fill in as much as applies:
- Product name & short description — Edit the headline buyers see.
- Product Media — Upload images or videos that showcase this product. Media added here also appears in your profile’s media gallery.
- Why choose this product — Add a Unique Value Proposition that shows what makes this product stand out.
- Proven Outcomes — Add measurable results that show your product’s impact, such as increases, reductions, or engagement improvements. Add up to 6 proven outcomes; each outcome is limited to 80 characters.
- Features & Solutions — Mark which features your product includes, add features of your own, and use solutions to show how different versions of the product compare. See Features & Solutions below.
- Product Sales Materials — Upload documents like brochures, case studies, or reports specific to this product. Files added here are also available on your profile.
- Competitors — Add competitors to give brokers context on similar solutions.
- Product Overview — Add locations and languages, and describe your product in more detail: what it does, who it’s for, and the value it delivers.
- Clients — Showcase companies that use your product. Client logos help brokers gauge your market presence.
Features & Solutions
Features are the specific capabilities brokers filter and compare on, so answering them is one of the highest-impact things you can do on a product page. Features don’t appear for every product. If yours has them, you’ll find them in the Features & Solutions section of the product page.
Marking what you offer and what you don’t
Each feature has a toggle. Click it once to mark the feature as offered. Click it a second time to mark it as not offered. A feature you haven’t clicked stays unanswered.
Answer as many features as you can, including the ones you don’t offer. A clear no tells buyers you’ve reviewed the list, while an unanswered feature leaves them guessing.
Adding your own features
If you offer something the standard list doesn’t cover, click “Add feature” and fill in:
- Feature name — What you call the capability, for example User portal, Analytics dashboard, or Mobile app.
- Description — A brief explanation of what the feature includes (up to 250 characters).
Your custom features appear alongside the standard ones on your product page.
Adding solutions
Solutions represent different versions of the same product. Each solution can have its own name, description, and included features.
Add solutions when you offer:
- Different packages or tiers
- Different feature combinations
- Different service levels or configurations
For example, you might offer Basic with core features for smaller organizations, Premium with additional features and services, and Enterprise as a more comprehensive offering for larger organizations.
Once you have more than one solution, you mark features for each solution rather than once for the product, so buyers can see and compare exactly how coverage changes from one version to the next.
If you offer only one version of the product, you don’t need solutions. Simply mark which features are included.
Managing a Secondary Product
Secondary products carry far fewer details. From the Secondary products tab, edit:
- Short description — Up to 140 characters.
- Group size — Enter a minimum and/or maximum, or leave blank for none.
- Delivery model — In-house or via a partner. If offered via a partner, select your partner(s).
- Available as a standalone product? — Yes or No. Standalone products can be purchased independently.
Reordering Your Primary Products
Your primary products appear on your profile in the same order as on the Products dashboard, so whatever is in the top slot reads as your flagship offering.
To reorder, click and drag a product to the position you want, then release it. The new order saves automatically, so there’s no save button to click.
Tip: Lead with the product you’re best known for, the one a buyer would search to find you, then work down in order of importance.
Only primary products can be reordered. Secondary products stay as they are.
Deleting a Product
Products are deleted from the Products dashboard. Find the product on the Primary products or Secondary products tab, then click the trash can icon in its row.
You’ll be asked to confirm before anything is removed. Click Delete to remove the product, or Cancel to keep it.
If you add the same product again later, the details you entered earlier are retained and automatically populated. The same is true when you move a product between Primary and Secondary.
