Last week, in our Meet a Vendor webinar series, we had an enlightening session featuring GoMo Health’s Chief Growth Officer, David Drap.

David shared invaluable insights into GoMo Health’s pioneering psychological safety programs, which encompass initiatives focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), substance abuse, and mental and behavioral health (MBH).

Throughout the event, David provided a deep dive into the various facets of these programs. Attendees gained a comprehensive understanding of GoMo Health’s approach, including tailored training and curriculum programs for employees and team members, as well as certification opportunities for establishing Recovery Friendly Workspaces.

Employer costs

We all likely know someone with a substance use and/or mental health disorder.

  • One in six have an alcohol or drug use disorder, frequently co-occurring with a mental illness.
  • One in four suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder.

Compared to colleagues with no substance use disorder, employees with a substance use disorder have the following implications:

  • 2x Companies pay double the cost for workers’ compensation and medical expenses.
  • 5x employees with a substance use disorder file 5x as many worker’s comp claims
  • 65% of accidents that happen on the job are related to drug and alcohol abuse in the workplace [National Safety Council]
  • In the past 3 years, costs have risen 30%
