Aware Health was founded in 2021 to simplify the orthopedic care journey by making conservative care more accessible and effective. We are a team of 34 employees, with roughly 40% in clinical roles. This stands in contrast to big-box MSK vendors that rely heavily on apps or AI. Our ideal customers are self-funded employers with at least 500 covered members.

We provide the fastest access to non-surgical specialists who hold, or are on track to receive, their Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) certification, pulling in physicians only when necessary.

This model consistently drives population-level cost savings. In a recent independent actuarial review, baseline MSK costs across our book of business decreased from $57 PMPM to $51 PMPM after one year. When adjusted for trend, modeled savings were closer to $12 PMPM, with some employers saving more than $22 PMPM—equating to an ROI of 4.63x.

Our approach was developed by our founder, Dr. Heidi Ojha, a Doctor of Physical Therapy and the most-cited researcher globally on direct access for MSK claims reduction. Her research and practice show that meaningful MSK savings require care that is fast, accurate, and personalized—principles that sit at the core of our results.
